“Women speaking up for themselves and for those around them is the strongest force we have, to CHANGE the world.” So says Melinda Gates.
And how I agree.
Speaking up and speaking out is what is needed to #breakthebias. Still. In 2022.
So to all those that ask “Why have a day dedicated just to women? Isn’t that just promoting gender bias and inequality even more?”
Well basically even though we are getting there (my son and his friends are case in point – they are amazing young men who are super sensitive and inclusive) – we are still not there …. YET!
So to all those that came before me.
And all those that lend their voices still.
And to those that still dedicate time and energy and their voice for more change in their corner of the world….
I salute you.
I celebrate you.
I am grateful to and for you.
And the three of us will do our part too.
To speak up and speak out.
For each of us has a story. And part of it has revolved around blockages removed, minds opened and hearts filled with courage and curiosity.
Celebrating ALL the amazing women in my life. Many of whom have passed on. You taught me so much.
Many of whom are here. You know who you are, and you continue to inspire me.
And I can’t wait to meet more of you soon.
Then I am also lucky enough to work with my beautiful comrades Ana Arcega – Raterta and Meenakshi Sarup – thank you for supporting me and being my side in this journey.
