We have been asked – What is that ONE tip to manage doubt? To quell the noise in our heads that gets in the way of taking that next step? ➡
Here are some thoughts around a key question we get from new managers and leaders around #DOUBT.
Every time we hear ourselves saying “it’s not possible” or “I can’t” and it’s followed with a BECAUSE– we are allowing something to be the cause or reason for us NOT to take that next step.
Wouldn’t it be nice to cancel-erase – replace those “old” scripts swirling in our heads.? ❌♻
Years ago we came across an article that recommended us to ask ourselves 4 questions:
By asking these 4 questions we open up our minds to possibilities. Versus just focusing on the problems and obstacles.
Interestingly with these questions – things became clearer, we find ourselves feeling more confident, and we then can take that next, best step. Even if at first we started with doubts. ✨
Now imagine there is TEAM DOUBT about a project or a new initiative. And you hear people say “We will not able to do that, because….” And let’s say this is about an important initiative.
Could you ask your team these 4 questions?
Could it actually help them see possibilities?
Could they actually erase some of the doubt and instead replace it with possible next steps to see at least where this initiative could lead to?
Hope you find these questions useful.
Use then the next time you “hear” those voices or feel that doubt.
How about you, how else do you cope or manage doubt?
