The many faces of #onlinepresentations! – Yesterday was the first that I experienced #livestreaming, NOT directly but via a Webex meeting.
No contact with the audience! Not even chat. What to do? ?
Over the last couple of years, #virtualtraining has become the norm. So, I know how to engage an audience virtually. We have many interesting stories about that! – we learnt the hard way ? didn’t we Roshini Ganesan
But this was new. All I got to see was 3 of the organisers while the audience was on a separate webinar platform altogether.
So I couldn’t ‘see’ the audience ⬛?⬛, I couldn’t see the comments they were making at all.
And presentations are ALWAYS all about the audience.
Fortunately for me I had great organisers – and they were happy to help build a bridge.
Here is what we did:
1️⃣ Used #Mentimeter to gather information from the participants
– it doesn’t have to be Mentimeter, it could be any tool that BOTH you and the audience can access.
This meant I could acknowledge the audiences’ experience – they shared their thoughts and questions with me via mentimeter
2️⃣ Still use chat
– we agreed on exactly when the organisers would feedback what they were seeing live in chat to me.
They were also kind enough to copy interesting comments and post them in Webex for me to see.
And that gave the audience an avenue they could interact with me at all times.
And then I channelled my inner TV presenter ? for dear life – pretended that I could see them, and that they were sitting IN the camera.
So happy to say that it worked! We had some great feedback on how interactive the session was! That is a record for me.
And this is a photo of me at the end of the session. Can you see the relief?
